Under the chestnut and terra cotta ceiling, the master bedroom embodies calm and simplicity. The "matrimonial" bed—larger than an American queen, but smaller than a king—has end tables and matching lamps on either side. The room is also furnished with an 18th-century painted armoire, a chest of drawers, a side chair, and a full-length mirror.

At the north end of the room, a window faces onto the street several floors below, which is quiet but carries enough passers-by that there is plenty to observe. Motorized vehicle traffic is rare, as the apartment is inside the city’s pedestrian zone.
